Building a stronger culture to reduce bribery & corruption risks in mining
The launch of the Bribery Prevention Network in Perth last month will help strengthen anti-corruption and bribery culture in the resources and broader business sectors.
More than 80 risk, procurement, legal and social performance professionals from mining and other industries attended the Perth event, co-hosted by the MCA and KPMG.
The MCA’s support of the Perth launch builds on its role as a network supporting partner of the innovative public-private private assisting Australian businesses to prevent, detect and address bribery and corruption risks.
While Australia’s minerals industry has a mature risk framework in place, the sector must remain vigilant of bribery and corruption risks, and the MCA’s active participation in the Network will help industry to identify and address new and emerging risks.
The MCA’s support for the Network is part of the mineral industry’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in environmental, social and governance performance.
The Bribery Prevention Network is hosted by the Global Compact Network Australia, with other supporting partners including the Australian Federal Police, BHP, ANZ, Transparency International, Westpac, the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department and the Australia-Africa Minerals and Energy Group.
